The Department of Film Design and Production is designed to handle the variable creation processes from an innovative perspective. The importance of theory and practice is considered at every stage and our tutors are experienced filmmakers with practical experience in cinema production processes. The programme is designed to respond to social and cultural needs with the aim of compiling and recording of the history and rich cultural heritage of Cyprus and transforming them into works of art with aesthetic and ethical concerns.
Graduates of the Department of Film Design and Directing can adopt many roles such as screenwriter, director, cinematographer, art director, producer, sound designer, animation artist, post-production specialist.
Graduates may be employed in various branches of the film industry, in the drama units of television channels, in advertising and production companies, in advertising and music video-making units, in the corporate communication units of public and private organisations, art festivals, independent media, internet series and films, as well as all kinds of media, public and legal entities that require moving image and storytelling.
Despite being a small university, it's absolutely a fantastic place to study. The staff is extremely friendly, professional & understanding. The university education system is a combination of theory and practical skills, which helps me be more confident as a filmmaker. It is a lot of work, but you can feel yourself improving every day. Coming from a foreign country, I am certain that I made the right decision in choosing ARUCAD.

Emrah Ozturk was born in 10th of March 1986, Morphou. He graduated Radio- TV-Cinema Department in 2008. He completed his master’s degree ‘Film and Cultural Studies’ programme at the University of Sunderland in 2010. In 2020, he completed his PhD programme.
He worked as a co-ordinator of Turkish unit in Hollywood movie “Ghost Rider 2: The Spirit of Vengeance” (2012). He has been an assistant director on TV shows such as “Canım Doktor” on TV8 and “Evim Şahane” on Kanal D (2012-14). He gave lectures about film making in private institutions such as Sinematek and Fil’m Hafızası. He has 6 short films that had been screened and selected at 9 festivals including 15th Golden Boll Film Festival and 13th Boston Turkish Films Festival.
Emrah Ozturk won Süleyman Ulucamgil Poetry Award in 2005. Also he recieved Selection Committee Award in Tarık Dursun K. Story Competition, 2012. His stories had been published in various magazines such as Varlık, Kitap-lık and Notos. He is one of the theree founders of Ucsuz, a journal of literacy and criticism. His story books “Limon Yagmuru” (May 2014, 2016) and “Anlatamiyorum” (February 2017) were published by Yapı Kredi Publications. In 2019, he translated the first volume of Edgar Allan Poe’s story collection.

After having completed his bachelor degree at Hacettepe University, he did his master degree at Great Britain’s Sunderland University on Television, Film and Media Production and held high level administrative posts for many years at the television and media sector. In tandem with his career at the sector, he continued to pursue an academic career as well, and was a lecturer at the Girne American University and Eastern Mediterranean University. He completed his doctorate degree on Communication and Media Management and is continuing with his studies on cinema/ideology, visual culture and digital transfromation.
He is particularly interested in photography and world history.

Ali Azhari is an Iranian filmmaker and cinematographer holding an M.F.A. in screenwriting/cinematography and has been professionally working in Iranian cinema as a director of photography for years.
His field of research is focused on interactive and post-cinema.
